Habonim strongly believes that as skilled Jewish educators we have a large responsibility to the less fortunate in the country. Habonim partners with several orqanisations to ensure that we educate our channichim and ourselves on the value of being responsible for others and sharing ones time and resources.

Cape Town – Habonim partners with an organisation started in Cape Town by ex-Habonim members called Earth-Child. We work in many of there schools with the children and SRC’s developing there leadership and personal capacity for advancing there studies independently.
Habonim has a strong relationship with Ons Plek, Mamalukes Childrens Creche’ and Nontzeba’s Rape Crisis Centre in Kayelicha.
Habonim is also closely involved with the T.A.C and Zackie Achmat and endeavours to educate and raise awareness on the current HIV/AIDS crisis in the country. In addition it lends support to T.A.C Herzlia and helps mobilise the student body to T.A.C rallies during the year.
In addition, Habonim in involved with Tikkun’s projects, tree planting for Lag Ba’omer in Delft and other projects on a more sporadic basis.
Johannesburg – Habonim is involved with several projects that Tikkun & the Chevrah Kadisha have initiated including fundraising through selling Livestrong bracelets, Purim and Pesach drives and lending manpower and valuable educators to projected run by Tikkun, that seek to improve the conditions in schools in Johannesburg.
Again in Johannesburg Habonim has strong ties with the T.A.C and seeks to get involved in as many of there political and social causes as possible.
The leadership of Habonim visits Soweto yearly and connects with several of the activist groups operating there.
