Cape Town Ken

In Gadi's Shomrim year (1998), due to limited leadership, a decision was made to allow Shomrim to be members of the local Mazkuriyot. Gadi was elected to be Rosh Sollelim in Cape Town.

In 2002, he served as S'gan Bakoach Cape Town (now S'gan Rosh Ken) under Wayne Sussman.

In 2003, he was served as the National Youth Worker, and also as the first Rosh Shorashim, where he created Habonim's Shorashim programme together with Mazkir Doron Isaacs. Although it was a new programme, it was decided to name the programme after Herzlia's (by then defunct) Shorashim programme, for continuity and marketing purposes.

Webmaster and other IT

Gadi created Habo's 2nd website (after Dave Reinhardt's initial version), which was also Habo's first database driven interactive website. It included, amongst other things, tagging of photos (before Facebook), an automated tent-diagram builder, a coloured campaigning system with real time updates and history, and the movement's first system to send templated e-mails based on database criteria.

Gadi also did extensive work on the Habonim database (initiated by David Reinhardt with extensive improvements by Sean Feinberg), integrating it with the website and creating a system to automatically sync the database between multiple locations (in those days, our system was based off Microsoft Access, and until then, the database of each ken had to be regularly emailed to Sean to merge and send back).

You can read more about Gadi's IT contributions to the movement in Like a Phoenix from the Ashes.
